TrépanierBaer at Art Toronto 2020 and ART TO Pop-Up at SBG

Some of us simply can’t resist organizing exhibitions.  We’re speaking about real, live, reliable, tangible, physical exhibitions in a real space where people can engage with the works artists make. In the spirit of collaboration with Art Toronto 2020, and working with a few colleagues from across the country,  and at the invitation of Stephen Bulger and his team (who – like us – can’t help themselves), TrépanierBaer will present works for this year’s fair in both Calgary and Toronto, and virtually on Art Toronto’s virtual platform.

In Calgary, in our main gallery, TrépanierBaer will present a solo exhibition of works by the  Black American artist Alicia Henry. Titled Alicia Henry: 2012-2020, this  will be Ms. Henry’s first exhibition in a private gallery, and her second solo exhibition in Canada. Some of you may remember Ms. Henry’s powerful, poetic and beautiful exhibition Witnessing at The Power Plant (Toronto) in 2019 curated by Daina Augaitis, Chief Curator Emerita of the Vancouver Art Gallery. In our Viewing Room, on a rotational basis, and through the course of the fair, we will present  a selection of works by gallery artists beginning with:  Chris Millar, DaveandJenn, Carroll Taylor Lindoe and Kent Merriman Jr.

In Toronto at ART TO Pop-Up @ SBG, TrépanierBaer will open with a selection of new and recent works by Sarah Stevenson, Luanne Martineau, James Carl, Stéphane La Rue, Alicia Henry, and Carroll Taylor Lindoe. Works by Vikky Alexander, IAIN BAXTER&, Chris Cran, Oscar Cahén, Ron Moppett, Kent Merriman Jr., and newcomer Brandan Doty will also be available through the course of the fair.

And just to keep everyone on their collecting toes and engaged in the real, on November 2 at the Art TO Pop-Up @ SBG, we will present a solo exhibition of Evan Penny’s latest work from the series Why Do You Peel Me From Myself from November 2 through to November 7.

Strict COVID-19 protocols will be in place at and in the galleries in both the Calgary and Toronto locations.
