Carroll Taylor Lindoe: Inch, Foot, Yard, Mile

TrépanierBaer Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Carroll Taylor Lindoe: Inch, Foot, Yard, Mile on Thursday September 10 and on  Friday, September 11. This exhibition of works from the corpus of the esteemed artist is her first solo exhibition in Canada in two decades. On view for the first time in twenty years are paintings from the Savage Paintings series; zoomorphic sculptures from the Little Haven / Lizard series; the Beautiful Paintings, and more.

Carroll is one of the nation’s most remarkable artists, with a practice spanning over four decades that includes sculpture, painting, photography, drawing and installations. She produces short, closely-related series in various media, creating works that are simultaneously gleaned from organic, zoomorphic, botanical, and geometrical and architectural references, paying very close attention to the natural world around her.

She has  taught at both the University of Calgary and the Alberta College of Art + Design (now the Alberta University of the Arts) where she mentored and inspired a generation of students, while maintaining a prolific and well-respected studio practice expressed by numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Carroll’s studio practice was never fully abandoned; it has been complimented by living a contemplative and industrious life on a farm on Denman Island, British Columbia with horses and a substantial plot of land where she grows and cultivates her own produce.  After several years away from the commercial art world , we are thrilled to re-present Ms. Taylor Lindoe’s highly regarded work to a new generation of collectors, curators and critics across the country.

In light of the current protocols regarding COVID-19, the gallery is offering 45 minute showings of the exhibition to groups of  no more than 15 people between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, and on Friday, September 11.
