In the Viewing Room
Jean Paul Riopelle, Harold Klunder and David Urban

As part of its Conversations 2012/2013 series, TrépanierBaer is pleased to present paintings by Jean Paul Riopelle, Harold Klunder and David Urban in the Viewing Room.

Both Klunder and Urban are influenced by Riopelle’s practice. The resonances between these artists’ works are noteworthy, from the impasto applications on canvas to the abstract nature of their paintings. Their similarites and their differences invite discussion about the particular dynamic that operates between these artists.

These works are being shown in conjuction with the exhibtion The Automatiste Revolution: Montréal 1941-1960, curated by Roald Nasgaard and on view at the Art Gallery of Alberta from June 23 through to October 14, 2012.
