In the Viewing Room
Martin Bennett: Grey/Four Leaves – An Installation

TrépanierBaer is pleased to present new work by Martin Bennett in our Viewing Room. These 11 paintings are some of the most recent iterations of Bennett’s Static Image Paintings, a series that explores the relationship between picture making, painting, and abstraction through various processes including photography, photocopying, drawing, painting and sanding. As Bennett has remarked:

The image is of a branch and leaves from a tree at the vicarage in Blackheath where I have rented a room most years for the past decade….When I look at the four leaves paintings I think about compass points and about movement and about being stationary, about repetition and uniqueness, about nature and the man-made, about human interaction…There is much embedded in the work that makes them interesting – things to do with time and numbers, and things to do with pictorial aesthetics… there are subtleties and nuances that occur within each painting…

As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to the gallery for a warm and calming visual respite from the outdoor winter chill. We look forward to seeing you!
