New DaveandJenn, and Michael Smith in attendance at TBG

New DaveandJenn

TrépanierBaer is pleased to present two new stunning works by DaveandJenn that have just arrived from their studio. Undergrowth is an intimate and intricate avian creature, who perhaps once inhabited one of the artists’ enchanted forests, and has come to life in three dimensions. Its upward and focused gaze proudly displays its thin, long and elegant humming-bird beak, and its bejewelled plumage of varied colour and hue gives this creature a regal air.Speaking of woodland places and the creatures that dwell in them, at first glance DaveandJenn’s new painting  titled Where my ghosts hibernate / Lonely Winter gives viewers a peak into their kitchen. However, this is no ordinary domestic scene: the refrigerator door is open, releasing the fantastical lush flora and exotic fauna from within, who are all now making themselves comfortable in their new surroundings, whether atop the toaster or within the oven itself. How long before they inhabit the entire kitchen?

Both works are on view now at TrépanierBaer Gallery.

If you are out East, you may visit DaveandJenn’s newest installation titled A Forest Song at the Musée d’art de Joliette. This preternatural avian tableaux does double duty as an allegory for our times. Stunningly beautiful and disturbing all at once, this installation work is not to be missed. On view now until April 24; please click here for more information.
