Glenbow Museum: Launch Party at 7:30 p.m.
You are cordially invited to the opening reception of HOMECOLOURS, the first of two exhibitions opening this weekend by Canadian artist Ron Moppett.
Ron Moppett, who turns 75 next month, has been exhibiting throughout North America for over 50 years. Over the course of that time he has created and continues to sustain a unique progressive and influential body of work that is without imitators. His work is a personal expression that transcends regional boundaries, and that sits firmly within a broader national and international dialogue. While maintaining this long-standing and rigorous artistic practice, Ron Moppett has also worked with the same passion and commitment as a curator, teacher, theatre designer, and mentor to younger artists; his influence in each of these areas has been and continues to be significant.
Please join TrépanierBaer as we honour Ron Moppett for his latest achievements and for his outstanding contribution to the creative life of Alberta and Canada as an artist, curator, teacher, designer and mentor to many. His vision has sustained a profound belief in the possibilities that Alberta artists and their work represent within the national and international community.Running concurrently at Glenbow Museum is Ron Moppett: DO YOU REMEMBER/ SNOW & STARS, the most recent iteration of the museum’s One New Work series curated by Nancy Tousley. This exhibition presents a giant and monumental 22-metre-long wrap-around painting. Not to be missed!
